Description

The workshop will focus on creating/developing and maintaining public/private partnerships to facilitate pre-disaster mitigation, and response/recovery in the event of a disaster. Workshop will focus on technological hazards as they relate to the large number of public gatherings, festivals and international events held annually in the Hayward lakes region. The workshop will focus is on economic impact, business continuity, response and recovery efforts during a disaster. The Hayward lakes region hosts a number of annual local events and festivals, including several large international sporting events like the American Birkiebeiner, Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival and the Lumberjack World Championships. A key concern related to these events is the possibility of acts of domestic terrorism, active shooter events (ASE’s) and other technological threats.
