Event description

Description

For those of us who call Hawaii our home, we know it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Many of us face the everyday challenges of rising housing costs, limited access to affordable goods and low wages that don't keep up with Hawaii's high cost of living. But somehow, we make it work.

This fall, Civil Beat presents Hawaii Storytellers: How I Make Ends Meet. Join us as we hear real stories about struggle and hope from voices in our community. Through their personal narratives, we’ll hear stories of our time and learn how living in Hawaii requires sacrifice, grit and in some cases creative solutions.

Arrive at Marks Garage starting at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy interactive activities and a no-host bar. The event will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.

We're currently looking for volunteer storytellers. If you have a story to share, please submit your idea for consideration by following this link: Storyteller Sign-up.

By registering for this event, you'll receive a subscription to Civil Beat's free e-newsletter, the Morning Beat. And don't worry, we hate spam too! You can unsubscribe any time by clicking the link at the bottom of each email.
