About this event

This training conference has been designed to support staff in schools and to provide information about how different resources, tools, and strategies can be used to help you in your mission to support student learning. Hear from our cohorts at our state offices, Cambium Assessment Inc., Center for Assessment, and Smarter Balanced!

Please register and you will be sent information regarding the agenda as well as the sessions, which include a presentation from our keynote speaker, Magda Chia (Smarter Balanced), who will present “Balanced System: Tools in Support of Educational Progress for All”, a presentation from plenary session that will discuss using assessment results, and many more breakout sessions that will cover performance assessments, assessment support, and Q&A sessions.

Conference Structure:

The conference provides a set of large-group keynote and plenary sessions, as well as a variety of breakout sessions.

The breakout sessions have been grouped by sessions addressing statewide assessments and sessions addressing school-level assessment and classroom assessment. Each set of sessions includes information on both assessments for learning (formative assessment/the formative assessment process) and assessments of learning (annual and interim summative assessment) along with accessing and reviewing student results scores and using the data to inform classroom instruction. These sessions are designed to help Complex and school teams consider the full range of assessment types that serve a variety of purposes.

In addition to the conference sessions, there will be time at the end of each day set aside for participants to attend Q&A sessions with presenters, or to work with their complex or school teams to plan next steps. Complex or school teams will be able to meet virtually to organize, debrief, and reflect at the last hour of each day. Teams can share with one another about sessions attended, key topics and ideas presented, implications of the sessions for the complex/school assessment plans and strategies, and any other topics important to the team. The use of Team Time is optional.
