Event description

Description

The Hawai‘i Island New Farmer Expo will bring together emerging and experienced farmers with non-profit, private, and government resource organizations. The purpose of the Expo is to provide participants with an understanding of the challenges and prospects involved in establishing a viable farm business on Hawai‘i Island, including a pragmatic, step-by-step overview on how to get started.

Morning sessions offer panel discussions and Q&A with experienced farmers as well as brief talks by island organizations on land acquisition, financing, training programs, crop choice, production methods, business planning, risk management, value-added products, branding, and marketing.

Afternoon sessions include films, info booths, one-on-one sessions, and workshops.

The event is open to the public, especially those who are serious about pursuing farm careers on Hawai‘i Island. Admission is $25 and includes access to all events, coffee, a light breakfast, and lunch catered by Red Water Café. Pre-registration is required by June 13, 2017.

The event is sponsored by AgriLogic Consulting, Pacific Gateway Center, and The Kohala Center, with a grant provided by the USDA Risk Management Agency.

To pay by check, please download, print, and complete this Registration Form for each attendee you wish to register. Mailing instructions are included on the form.
