Have you thought about becoming a school governor? - Taster event
Tue, April 18, 2017, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM BST
Schools in and around Medway need more people to volunteer as school governors and help ensure that our children and young people get the education that will enable them to flourish.
If this is a cause you can identify with and are prepared to commit around 60 -100 hours a year (usually in the evenings during term time) then this could be a great way to invest in the future of your local community
You don't need to know anything about education, but you do need to be willing to learn. Much more important is that you can be relied upon to pull your weight, are able to work as part of a team, are not afraid to ask questions and express your opinion in an objective and constructive fashion and in all your dealings with the school with uphold the highest standards of integrity.
This is a role that involves more interaction with reports, predictions, plans and performance analysis than it does with children but their wellbeing is very much at the heart of what governors do. Therefore if you do wish to become a governor you be required to undergo a criminal record check as part of a governing body's legal responsibility for safeguarding
If we haven't succeeded in putting you off and you are interested in finding out more then we very much look forward to seeing you at our taster session.
