Event Information
About this Event
Due to COVID-19, face coverings are now REQUIRED to be worn for the duration of the tour. Anyone who does not comply with this requirement will be asked to leave.
Although tours remain pay-what-you-want, advance registration is REQUIRED. If you do not sign up through Eventbrite for a spot on the tour, you will not be allowed to participate. The number of customers on each tour is now limited due to COVID-19. Thank you for your understanding!
This tour is pay-what-you-want -- if you enjoy the tour, please compensate your guide appropriately! CASH ONLY please! Usually, the guide receives $15 to $20 per adult, but you are free to give more or less than that, depending on how you feel about your tour. As you can imagine, the tour guide has to work hard to earn your appreciation!
The Raleigh Haunted History tour begins outside the N.C. Executive Mansion (Governor’s Mansion), 200 N. Blount St., on the corner of Blount and Jones Sts., outside the barricade. This is a walking tour -- it is NOT a tour of the Governor's Mansion! There are stops at several city landmarks, where your guide will discuss the history and legacy of the Raleigh landmark and then regale you with an eerie story. This ghost tour is a perfect combination of haunts and history!
This walking tour is not your typical “ghost tour” with special effects, and we will not be looking for ghosts. Instead, it is a history tour that discusses some real hauntings resulting from past events. Please note that there is a very significant historical component to this tour, where you will also learn the actual history of the sites we visit!
PLEASE NOTE: We will start at the Governor's Mansion at 200 N. Blount St. The Governor's Mansion takes up an entire city block, so please make sure that you are on the Blount St. side of the mansion. The starting point is on the corner of Blount and Jones Sts., outside the barricade. Please do NOT attempt to enter the grounds of the Governor's Mansion at any time. Also, please do not call the Governor's Mansion or buzz any of the intercoms at the Mansion gates. The tour route is about 1 mile long, and the end point of the tour is approximately 2 blocks away from the starting point. In addition, we will NOT be entering any of the buildings listed in this tour description.
The Haunted History Tours are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long, but may be slightly shorter depending on the size and speed of the group. There will not be any restroom breaks or stops for food/drinks.
