Event description

Description

What is a hate group and how can they be covered? What are the challenges of covering extremist movements and individuals?

Join us for a seminar featuring:
- researchers from Southern Poverty Law Center and Pro Publica who have been tracking hate crime and groups
- representatives from the FBI and the Jewish Community Relations Council
- a legal expert from the Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication
- a hate crime victim and advocate.

This seminar for journalists will shed light on the many ways hate and hate groups are filtering into society. Learn how to track them on the internet and learn about a national effort among journalism organizations to track hate crime.

Presented by the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists and the University of Minnesota's Minnesota Journalism Center.
