Event description

Description

HAS Comprehensive Compliance Training is geared toward educating current and future contractors with the Houston Airport System (HAS) on the ins and outs of compliance requirements mandated by HAS and City of Houston. During our workshop, the requirements of each compliance component (including participation goal tracking, certified payrolls, and Pay or Play) will be explained and contractors will be taught how to properly report for each component. Attendees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Pay or Play program and documents and to have questions ready.

FAQs

Who should come to this event?

Any contractor who has not yet received compliance training (or who has received compliance training prior to January 2017) and has been granted a contract with the Houston Airport System after January 2017 is required to attend. Companies on contracts not currently in compliance may also be required to attend additional trainings. In addition, contractors who would like a refresher on program submission guidelines or updates on compliance are encouraged to attend. Tickets for optional attendees are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who should attend from my company?

Contractors who have not yet received training are required to ensure that, at a minimum, the person or persons who will be responsible for submitting compliance reports on the HAS contract in question attend; we also strongly encourage the supervisor(s) of the compliance personnel to attend so that they are able to familiarize themselves with the submittal process. Depending on the structuring of your company, one representative from Human Resources and Accounting may also want to attend. Keep in mind that compliance reporting, especially for contracts subject to Pay or Play, will require submission of documents such as company-provided insurance guidelines, documentation of employer and employee health premiums, &. and plan accordingly.

I have been on City of Houston and Houston Airport System contracts before. Should I still come?

Any contractor who has a new contract with the Houston Airport System is required to attend, regardless of whether or not they have received compliance training in the past, especially if they have only received training through other City departments. If you have received compliance training through HAS OBO after January 2017 and have not received a new contract through HAS since then, you are not required to attend.

What should I bring to this event?

Each person must bring a notepad and pen/pencil or some other way to take notes. Be advised that submission requirements for the compliance programs can very detailed, and be prepared to take notes accordingly. Contractors who have not yet received training are required to bring their preliminary EEO and Pay or Play documents as well as any Exhibits. Attendees are encouraged to also bring any compliance documentation they have already completed for review and/or correction, as well as copies of any executed subcontracts. If you need copies of the preliminary compliance documents, please email HAS.OBO@houstontx.gov,

I have a question not answered above. Who do I contact?

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Houston Airport System Office of Business Opportunity at (281) 233-7823 or HAS.OBO@houstontx.gov, or Karin Chang at Karin.Chang@houstontx.gov.
