Description

Join The Harkin Institute for Public Policy & Citizen Engagement for the inaugural Harkin on Wellness Symposium on March 21, 2018 at Drake University. This year, we are welcoming a host of health care experts to discussion on preventive care and policy.

Learn about the latest trends in preventive care and population health and discuss how they can influence health policy, clinical and community care. Topics to be covered include:

  • chronic disease prevention and interventions in preventive health

  • the value of exercise as medicine, food as medicine, and meditation

  • innovative community health and wellness initiatives

  • educating future health professionals

Renowned doctor Andrew Weil, founder and program director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, will deliver the keynote speech. Weil has been recognized by Time magazine as one of the most influential Americans (1997) and 100 most influential people in the world (2005). He is a clinical professor of medicine and professor of public health at the University of Arizona and the author of 14 books. Weil is also a member of The Harkin Institute's Wellness and Nutrition Advisory Committee.

The event will conclude with a reception where attendees can network and continue the discussion on preventive care.
