Event description

Description

20% of teenagers aged 13-18 years old live with depression, 1 in 10 teens suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition and 50% of all lifetime mental health cases begin before the age of 14.

20% of all teens who are cyberbullied consider suicide, and according to suicide.org, a teen takes their own life every 100 seconds. Sadly, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for people aged between 15 and 24 years of age and approximately 1 in 5 young people self-harm.

Clearly, the fact that nearly 300,000 young people in Britain have an anxiety disorder means that something is wrong with the world today. However, in the absence of being able to change the world, we need to change the way we support our teenagers and help them to know how to support themselves.

Do you and your teen need advice, guidance, help, and support through the teenage years?

Join us on 4th May 2019, where professionals in youth wellbeing will be coming together for one day to help you and your teenager to navigate those tricky teen years.

Happy Teens Wellbeing Conference hosted by Kat Shaw of Brilliantly Imperfect, in support of Rephael House Counselling Services and The OLLIE Foundation suicide prevention charity (20% of all profit from ticket sales will be split between both charities) will offer talks and workshops running consecutively to cater for you - as a parent, carer, teacher or professional as well as for the teenagers themselves!

The content of talks and workshops will include the following:

Mindfulness, the teenage brain and its development, communication, anxiety, exam stress, self esteem, body confidence, lgbt, self harm, social media, internet safety, sleep, study supports and much more.

There will also be a PROFESSIONAL PANEL, a yoga workshop, and a self-defence taster session, as well as multiple exhibitor stalls all there to offer you personalised guidance, support, advice, and help.
