Amazon Media will be hosting a Happy Hour & Tech Talk at Tavern Hall in downtown Bellevue on March 8th! This free networking event will feature an overview of Media and what our different organizations are working on. It will also give the attendees a chance to meet Amazonians in a fun, relaxed setting!
Our guest speakers -
Libby Johnson McKee- Director, ReCommerce
Her history with Amazon goes back to 1997, when she joined what was a small internet bookstore to establish direct relationships with publishers. Libby worked on books in buying, merchandising, in-stock, supply chain, editorial and marketing. In 2001, Libby left Amazon to join her husband in New Zealand and then moved to Spain with her two kids in 2004. While in Spain, she started a non-profit organization to educate kids about the importance of clean marine water and the causes of water pollution. Through this work, Libby learned about sustainable business and wanted to be a part of leading businesses focused on people, planet, and profit. She returned to Seattle to get her MBA in Sustainability and rejoined Amazon in 2010.
Libby's roles in Amazon have combined business, technology and operations. She enjoys leading groups with a “start-up” mindset within a larger company and applying a sustainability focus to the business. She currently leads the global ReCommerce team for Amazon. Our vision is to make buying, selling, and renting of used products simple and easy while maximizing reuse and minimizing waste. By offering customers high quality pre-owned items, rental options and buying back used products, we are extending the useful life of products, reducing landfill waste and creating closed loop product cycles which reduce the cost of returns and lower the impact on the planet.
