Overview

Today’s Maine Jewish Community in Historical Perspective

Raise a glass and dive into history!

This installment of Happy Hour with a Historian brings us something truly exciting: the brand-new Maine Jewish Community Study. Rabbi Dr. David Freidenreich, the Museum’s Historian-in-Residence, will share insights from this landmark report while placing the findings in the wider story of Jewish life in Maine over the past century.

How has our community changed? What threads of continuity still bind us together? And what do these patterns tell us about where we might be headed? Whether you’re a data nerd, a history buff, or simply curious about the Jewish experience in Maine, this evening promises fresh perspectives, fascinating stories, and plenty of opportunities for discussion.

Of course, no Happy Hour is complete without good company and something tasty to nosh on—so enjoy light refreshments while connecting with neighbors, friends, and fellow learners.

Come for the data, stay for the stories (and the snacks!). History has never been this delicious.
