Event description

Description

Happy Family Night Market is a first of its kind, one-day festival that celebrates Asian American heritage through the lens of food. Inspired by the vibrant open air bazaars in Asia and the multicultural evolution of America, our event aims to explore Asian American narratives through food, art, films, and panels.

Expect exclusive dishes from Bunker, Kreung Cambodia, While in Kathmandu, Jenn De La Vega, Randwiches, The Little One, Taj Mah Balls, Po-Po's, and Mountain Province in the food market (with more to be announced), and drinks provided by celebrated mixologist Arley Marks who will debut Asian American cocktails for the event.

Panel discussions with renowned writers, chefs, and historians on Asian American Fermentation, Tiger Mom & Asian Fetishes: Gender & Tradition at the Table, From Tikka Masala to Ayurveda: Perspectives on Indian American Cuisine and Hybridized Chinese Food in History and Today will be hosted throughout the afternoon.

A series of iconic and independent films will be featured in the screening room, and a curated art
marketplace with the likes of BANANA Magazine and the oldest store in Chinatown, Wing on Wo & Co, will be on the main floor throughout the day. And finally, our after party will be hosted by the inimitable NYC queer Asian dance party crew Bubble_T until the early hours!
