Event description

Description

An experience that brings New Deal projects and the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island to your fingertips!

Join us in a close-up show-and-tell with San Francisco history through original manuscripts, documents, newspapers, and photographs which document San Francisco's New Deal. Collections on view will include the original hand-drawn block profiles used to create the WPA San Francisco wood model. A special highlight will be on souvenirs, ephemera and photographs of the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island, 1939-1940.

This exclusive program takes place within the San Francisco History Center and is limited to 30 participants. The behind-the-scenes event is led by our knowledgeable archivists, who will guide the tour of documents with anecdotes and San Francisco trivia while guests hold San Francisco’s treasured documents. Photography is welcomed and encouraged during the program.
