Event description

Description

Take history in the palm of your hand: turn pages, hold manuscripts, and handle artifacts with the Hands-on History series from the Free Library's Special Collections. Curiosity seekers age 13 and up are welcome! Registration is free, but required. In coordination with Tempesta di Mare GREAT BOOKS Classic Tales for Orchestra, Hands-on History explores literary masterpieces of Western literature that have inspired great musical compositions. Books and musical compositions will be shown.

Take history in the palm of your hand every second Saturday with the Free Library’s Special Collections! Hands-on History offers visitors the unique opportunity to turn the page of a historic manuscript, feel the inscription on an ancient cuneiform tablet, or even spin an antique globe. Objects selected each month will be inspired by a special theme and will be drawn from the Library’s fun and fascinating Special Collections. Curiosity seekers age 13 and up are welcome!
