Handgun Protection/Retention Workshop –“Maintaining Control of your Firearm”
This hands-on workshop will require active participation in all group exercises and activities through guided discovery, building sub-skills and developing core skills to increase performance during all stages of handgun protection inside and out of the holster. This hands-on workshop will address how to maintain control of your firearm when carrying openly, concealed or when in a physical struggle with a threat attempting to disarm you. Topics will include strategies for standing, ground and close and confined spaces. How to manage control of your firearm and other weapons needed to protect it, including but not limited to tactics for guarding your firearm, retention of your firearm in and out of the holster and escalation options when everything else fails. All skills in this program are lifesaving skills and translate from the classroom to the range to winning real world encounters.
Special Gear (e.g. ammunition) Each student will bring their own firearm and holsters (NO LIVE AMMUNITION)
Equipment Required: Clothing and footwear for defensive tactics instruction, with your personal firearm and holster (training firearm willl be available) whistle and lanyard. Duty belt with holster, training weapons, inert aerosols, body armor, impact weapon, protective equipment, groin protection and mouthpiece. (NO LIVE AMMUNITION)
