Messiah is an English-language song of praise composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel, with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible. It was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in operatic music.
This one-time only performance will feature The Elmwood Concert Singers and Vinroy Brown, Conductor. With special guest performances by Silky Carter, Taria Mitchell, Anthony P. McGlaun, Asa Vaughn-Burnett, and Mark Miller on the organ.
This concert will be one to remember.
