Traditionally thought of as a Polish enclave, Hamtramck has become one of the most diverse cities in the world. Join us as we go to three of our favorite bars in Ham-town. We will walk from bar to bar (wear comfortable shoes) and you'll get fun facts and Hamtramck history along the way.
Bumbo’s 3001 Holbrook Hamtramck, MI 48212
There is no reclaimed wood there, no tasteful modernisms, no mustachioed Portlandia decor. Co-owner Tia Krawczyk says, "Everything here is claimed!" "We aren't a cocktail bar, but we are a neighborhood bar that has cocktails. Everything is really approachable, but nothing is $12, or flipped over our shoulders. That's not what we like, and we are creating a place we wanted to be at. We have a nice selection of beers, from fancy crafts to $2 beers."
Plav Post Ten 11824 Joseph Campau Ave, Hamtramck, MI 48212
With a friendly and community based staff, Plav is outstanding, going out of their way to make you feel awesome!. Food and drinks are are steal and the community feel is unparralleled.
Whiskey in the Jar 2741 Yemans St, Hamtramck, MI 48212
It all starts with the complimentary "Welcome to Hamtramck" shot of Jezynowka and ends with you attempting to steal a bike you thought was yours even though you don’t own one – and with all manner of freak show in between. There is nary a dull moment at the Whiskey, even if it’s just you and the bartender.
