About Alain

Alain is a dance instructor with a very diverse background. He is proud to be co-organizer/promotor/owner of the 2017 Atlanta Kizomba Dream Festival, the first Kizomba festival ever held in the southern city. Trained in Ballroom, Latin and Kizomba, Alain has focused on promoting and growing Kizomba throughout the Unites States, for the past 5 years. Alain offers group lessons at Core Studio in Decatur, GA, private lessons upon request and performs and offers deejay services.

About Miya

Miya is rising Kizomba dancer and instructor residing in GA. She discovered Kizomba in Barbados after running into a childhood friend from the Ivory Coast who was visiting the island from Brazil in 2014. This God ordered reunion, spearheaded her quest to broaden her dance vocabulary. By the end of 2014, she had moved back to Atlanta and the first thing she did upon arriving was taking a Kizomba class.

Salsa and bachata were no longer her partner dances of choice. Since her days of ballet, jazz, African diasporic dances, Kizomba became her preferred means of expression through dance. Miya also teaches French in her spare time and loves Spanish but Kizomba music and Portuguese have captured her heart.

She is passionate about ethnomusicology, dance, and culture. She was a member of Dance Diaspora at Oberlin College and studied dance, culture, and economics in Kingston JA. To date, she has taken classes in Trinidad & Tobago, Miami and Tennesee. She has taught and performed with the best teachers in the Metro Atlanta Area. Her goal is to study Kizomba in France and Angola.
