Event description
This detailed Lindy Hop workshop will introduce beginners to swing dancing while giving advanced dancers advanced styling for creativity.

About this event

Halloween Hop: FUN-damentals n’ Footwork Vintage Swing Dance Workshop

This intimate, crash course workshop will cover the basics for first timers who have never done swing dancing before (no experience necessary for the basics class), footwork variations for our regulars and advanced dancers, and there’ll be food to keep us all fueled, as we dance the night away after. (The open dancing and practice time will also be the time for tutoring for anyone who would like a little extra instruction.)

We cover the “rarely seen, but always keen” Smooth Style Lindy Hop, the fast and fancy “jitterbug” style of swing done to energetic Big Band and early Rock n’ Roll for both the beginners and intermediate/advanced swing dancers, as well as Collegiate Shag (fast swing dancing!) for our experienced swing dancers. (We won’t restrict the beginners from trying that class out, but that class is designed for dancers who have had some shag dance experience.)

Basics and fundamentals of Smooth Lindy are covered in detail, for our first timers who are trying this out for the first time. (Though this class is a “one time” crash course, designed to introduce potential swing dancers to Lindy, this workshop also happens to meet the requirement needed for anyone who would like to join our weekly, exclusive, ongoing classes.)

Footwork variations and styling is what we will cover for our advanced dancers, so that you can add to your repertoire and creativity on the dance floor.

* For safety, partners will stay together during the instruction portion, and we’re limiting the total number of participants to NO MORE THAN TWELVE PARTICIPANTS. (That’s what we mean by “intimate.” We’re keeping this event small, both for safety, and for the quality of instruction.)
