Halloween Costume Contest
Forest City Surplus, 1712 Dundas (Dundas and Third) in London, Ontario is hosting their annual Halloween Costume Contest again this year.
It is a lot of fun for kids and adults. There is no cost whatsoever to enter, and $400 in prizes will be awarded: Gift certificates in the amounts of $150 for First Place, $100 for Second Place, and $50 for Third Place in the adult category, and $50, $30, and $20 for the top three children’s entries.
Last year’s adult winners were the Mad Hatter, the Joker, and a Ghostbuster. First place in the children’s category went to Mario, complete with his race car; Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot, and Red Pyramid from the Silent Hill Video game. Ingenious home-made children’s costumes in previous years have included a gnome on a mushroom (2014), a gumball machine and a claw prize machine (2013), and a hot air balloon (2012). Adults impressed with Beetlejuice and Batman (2014), and a Minion and a Headless Horseman (2013). Every year the costumes get better!
This year, you can pose for a selfie with a giant Ghostbusters logo sign from the recent Comicon event.
To enter, contestants just come into the store in costume and have their picture taken.
The pictures are then posted on a website. People who visit the website can vote for their favorite entries starting Oct. 23 and lasting until Oct. 31. Entries with the most votes become the final top ten contestants from whom the winners are picked by the Forest City Surplus contest judges.
