Event description

Description

We all know that kids love sugar. But studies show children today consume at least three times the recommended daily limit, causing serious health problems. And the culprits aren’t just the usual suspects like candy, soda, and cookies. Added sugar is everywhere—in yogurts and bottled salad dressings, in jarred tomato sauce and oatmeal packets, mac and cheese and pre-sliced bread, and even in packaged organic granola. And countless studies have shown that excess sugar can lead to the childhood ailments and disease. With all this sugar lurking, how can a parent avoid it and still make quick low-sugar meals kids will love? Topics Jennifer will cover include: Debunking the sugar myth • How to avoid added sugar • Kid-friendly, low-sugar recipe alternatives that even the pickiest eaters will love.

Admission is free with your RSVP.

Jennifer Tyler Lee is an award winning author, self-trained home cook, and healthy eating advocate who earned her certificate in Nutrition and Healthy Living from Cornell University. Her innovative and delicious low-sugar recipes show that quitting sugar doesn’t mean giving up the foods you love--the trick is to sweeten them naturally with fruits and vegetables instead of added sugar. Jennifer’s first book, The 52 New Foods Challenge, was nominated for an IACP Cookbook Award.
