Event description

Description

This will be a practical introduction to Layers of London (www.layersoflondon.org) and the tools it offers to anyone wanting to explore or record Hackney's rich history.

Find out how some of Hackney's history has already been mapped illuminating the past lives that shaped our streets. Try out the various resources on hand at the Archives and pull together the threads that weave a story to share.

Those who want to add to the Hackney History collection of records already available on Layers of London are particularly welcome. Records can be based on research or memory or both. Some histories are not yet well represented and we are keen to record all voices and experiences.

Layers of London is designed to involve us all in discovering and creating local history. This workshop will look at the ways we can use the site both for research and for record creation.

The workshop will be practical and online so do bring your own laptop or device if you can, there will also be some PCs available in the Archives.
