Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 7:00 PM - Friday, October 25, 2013 at 12:00 AM (EDT)
HackLab at the i-lab!
Calling all devs - interested in hacking on cool side projects? Bring your laptop & join us at the i-lab for the initiation of HackLab! We'll have developers from some of our coolest i-lab teams who will sit down with you to help you learn new technologies and hack on projects -- one of ours or bring your own. Come hungry (we'll have pizza) and ready to hack!
Meet other hackers from Hack Harvard, HCVP, Women in CS, and HCS. You'll come away with hands-on experience on a new technology. Here's a sneak peek at some of the projects:
- Hottspot - The answer to the question: "What's going on?"
Tech: Web & Mobile. Ruby on Rails, jQuery, HTML/CSS, Location-based.
- Sexy Time (by SQ) : mining and visualizing Harvard sex surveys.
- Parlr - Chatrooms for the 21st century.
- Hacking the Maurader's Map of the i-lab (by Pingz!) Location-based app using bluetooth beacons
- Make Me a Freshman Checklist generator for applying to college.
OR... bring your own project that you're interested in hacking with others on.
Pre-Requisites: Novices are welcome! However, you should have some experience coding (e.g., have completed CS50 or hacked some things together before) so that you're able to sit down and start hacking. Don't know the technologies we're using? No worries, come & learn!
