Hacking Your Nervous System™

In this introductory workshop, you will learn powerful stress resilience skills (like breath and mind-body techniques) that can be used to regulate your stress response. We will practice a variety of mindfulness and body position techniques that are scientifically proven to reduce stress.

The program is especially beneficial to those who work in nerve-wracking environments, have experienced traumatic events, or suffer from constant worry. We've trained instructors in the Department of State and individuals from a variety of military and intelligence agencies. These techniques are equally useful for executives who are burning the candle at both ends, or school teachers who are dealing with the pressures of the modern classroom.

What we’ll cover:

  • Intro to the Autonomic Nervous System: Understand the science of fight-flight, anxiety, and how to lower tension

  • Breathing techniques used to release worry and regulate the autonomic nervous system

  • Body poses to release tension, including a method of shaking or tremoring out of stress

  • Mindfulness practices that help to increase your awareness and regulation of thought patterns

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare to get the most from the experience?

Be hydrated, and don't eat a very large meal beforehand. If you are an athlete, work out before the workshop.

What should I wear?

Wear loose and comfortable clothing that will allow for gentle exercise and stretching. No skirts, please.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring a water bottle, pen and notebook. If you have a favorite yoga mat, bring it.

Are there any limitations or cautions?

If you are pregnant or recently recovering from surgery, then we do not recommend you participate in the group. If you have specific health concerns, please contact us. The practices can be done by anyone, with modifications.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Paid parking is on the street right outside the studio. We will take a break so you can feed the meter.
