Event description

Description

What we learned at the inaugural #a11yTOConf.

On September 28th and 29th this year, the folks at #a11yTO put together a brilliant line-up of talks to share their web accessibility expertise with an audience of designers, developers, and project managers. If you missed it, don’t despair! Jen, Francine, and Maureen will be recapping their experience at the conference with short summaries and quick code-alongs. Though the conference catered to a wide range of web professionals, this talk will focus on issues commonly encountered by junior front-end devs. Hope to see you there!

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to write accessible content;
  • How to approach user testing;
  • Tips for accessible forms;
  • How accessibility practices can be implemented on a large scale;
  • How to set up and use a screen reader on your mobile device;
  • What the biggest #a11yFail looks like, how to avoid it, and much more!

How to prepare:

Bring your laptop, a powercord, and have your favorite text editor ready!

Bring your iPhone or Android phone, if you have one.

Make sure you have the Google Chrome browser downloaded.
