One of Silicon Valley's oldest hackerspaces will be celebrating turning 10. We have an awesome line up of tech influenced artists showcasing their crafts and providing workshops so attendees can produce their own work at the event!! This will be a special showcase sharing how technology advanced music through the development of the synthesizer

This presentation (with live demos) is a journey through the design of musical tools, instruments, toys, games, and social experiences. It is a story and contemplation on how we shape technology and how technology, in turn, shapes us and our society.

Grew out of series of weekly electronic improvisation sessions in Mtn. View, started in 2016 by Mark Lentczner. The focus is on the live performance of a music exploring electronic timbre, harmony, and rhythm.

A new retro 80's Synthwave project by Peter Brian Rice from the San Francisco Bay Area. specializing in sound design and production for 80's/90's retro gaming soundtracks, film scoring.

Developed AudioKit, an iOS/OSX audio synthesis, processing, and analysis toolkit, wrote a successful book on Rails, launched startups, Earned Ph.D. @ Caltech. Mobile Developer San Francisco California Institute

3pm - Ge Wang

Ge Wang is an Associate Professor at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), and researches artful design of instruments, tools, toys, games, and social experiences. He is the architect of the ChucK music programming language, and director of the Stanford Laptop Orchestra. He co-founded Smule (200+ million users) and designed Ocarina for the iPhone, one of Apple’s Hall of Fame Apps. A 2016 Guggenheim Fellow, Ge is the author of Artful Design:Technology in Search of the Sublime, a manifesto (in comic book form) of how we shape technology -- and a meditation on how technology shapes us in turn. Roger Linn is an American designer of electronic musical instruments and equipment. He is the designer of the LM-1, the first drum machine to use samples, and the MPC sampler, which had a major influence on the development of hip hop

High Tech Magic Show by TechIllusionist, experience one of a kind, interactive and highly entertaining Magic Show using science and emerging technology. Suyash Joshi is a prolific hacker, maker and magician who creates unique Illusions using IOT, Augmented Reality and Siri.

2pm - Moldover,

Moldover’s Custom Musical Controllers (or: Moldover, The Godfather of Controllerism)

Moldover (AKA The Godfather of Controllerism) is a San Francisco based artist, musician, and instrument designer. He has performed at Sonar, Mutek, and Coachella, collaborated with artists including Bassnectar, Will-i-am, and DJ Shadow, and is a frequent guest speaker at top tier design schools including Stanford, NYU, and MIT. In this candid presentation, Moldover will share his original music, demonstrate his custom performance instruments, and take you deep inside a multitude of creative projects that all revolve around controllerism.

MONOTREMATIC is the stage name of Neil Bliss, a multitalented San Francisco area musician and entertainer. As Monotrematic, Neil performs and records electronic ambient and dance music in the San Francisco bay area.

2pm - Tim Thompson - Adventures and Evolution in Visual Music Instruments

This talk will be a nerdy account of my work over the last 15 years of building visual instruments, using a wide variety of physical interfaces and software technologies. The most recent instrument is the Space Palette Pro, which was installed in the Photon Salon and projected onto a 70-foot high pyramid at Burning Man 2019.


3pm - Julius - "Creating alternate futures (a composer's view)"

Hungarian-American composer Julius Dobos is best known for his electronic, psybient, ambient and early electro-orchestral music releases worldwide, and for his music produced for major motion pictures, such as “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan”, “Paul Blart: MallCop” and television programs (DragonBall Z, NCIS) in Europe and in the United States.
