Hack the Future 8
Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
Mountain View, CA
Are you a 5th-12th grade student who wants to learn about building stuff with computers and electronics beyond what they teach you in school? Then it's time to start teaching yourself!
Hack the Future is an all-day party / hackathon to show you what it's like to be a hacker and see if it's for you. We won't tell you what to do. You'll be free to work on whatever you want. We'll try to keep you from getting stuck, and we'll give you a place to start (if you want one). This is a unique opportunity to learn about state of the art software, hardware design and engineering from mentors working for Bay Area startups as well as big companies like Facebook and Microsoft.
You might learn how to:
- write your own games
- create webpages
- make mods for existing games like Minecraft
- create things using a 3D printer
- or who knows what else!
Don't forget to bring a laptop for programming!
Bring the laptop's admin password, or we can't put magic* on it!
If this is your first time attending, please print and fill out a copy of the medical information sheet at the event. Parents, please don't reserve a ticket for yourself. We encourage you to let your children learn on their own, and we'll have some fun activities set up for you as well :)
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 29th!
P.S. All the funding goes directly into our programs. If you'd like to support Hack the Future, please consider making a one-time donation or becoming a monthly supporter. Visit our Rally Page for more information.
