Headwaters will be hosting the Habitat for Headwaters 2nd Annual Sporting Clays Challenge on September 23, 2016 at beautiful Warrior's Mark Wingshooting Lodge and Kennels, featuring over 2700 acres of prime hunting and shooting grounds nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Central Pennsylvania.
Sporting clays, often called golf with a shotgun, is the fastest growing shooting sport in the world. Clay "birds" are thrown from various traps along a course designed to simulate the flight patterns of waterfowl and upland game birds as well as the running rabbit. Each field presents a shot or combination of shots designed to test the shooter's skill while maintaining a safe environment for all shooters and spectators.
Warrior's Mark sporting clays courses are professionally designed and include 18 different fields with over 50 shooting stations, covering areas of deep woods, brushy hollows and open fields. The course utilizes a variety of towers ranging from ten to 40 feet in height.
This event supports programs such as Project WINGS (Wildlife Incentives for Non-game and Game Species). WINGS is a rights‑of‑way management campaign designed to create new and enhance existing wildlife habitats on natural gas pipeline right-of-ways. The project offers education, technical assistance, and reimbursements for seed, plants, and materials for landowners committed to maintaining wildlife habitat on the pipeline right of way.
Breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, awards and event merchandise are included with registration.
