Habitat at the Ranch (March 2018)
Event Information
Description
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, DC Ranch invites participants to roll up their sleeves and show their community spirit in a way that will last for generations to come.
Habitat at the Ranch is a two-day build project where participants will choose to build on Friday or Saturday to help erect the frame of a house, build shelves, benches, birdhouses and other construction projects in the parking lot of The Homestead Community Center.
This is the first of its kind build project in Arizona—Habitat is literally bringing its operation away from the build-site and to the Ranch so that volunteers can participate! The frame will then be transported to its permanent location and become a new family home.
No prior construction experience necessary; tasks include everything from painting to more skilled work like drilling. Habitat construction crew leaders will teach and assist residents with each job. Volunteers ages 8 and older are welcome. Children spots are limimted and anyone under the age of 8 will not be allowed on build site.
Immediately following the morning build on Saturday, all participants will be treated to a special “wall-raising” for a chance to sign the wall and celebrate their hard work and dedication. Friday participants are welcome to join the celebration on Saturday.
Together, DC Ranch will have a lasting impact on a family in need as it celebrates a milestone anniversary!
