More on Amelia:

Amelia is in her final year of school as a Ph.D. student in Social Psychology & Health at the University of Houston. She went to graduate school after falling in love with statistics as an undergraduate at Texas A&M University, and expected to graduate with her doctorate ready to work as an academic researching various areas of social psychology—but life had other plans.

While writing her master’s thesis, she wrote the book Enoughness: A Journey of Hunger, Recovery, and Freedom about her journey through anorexia and bulimia, but as she completes her Ph.D., she has returned to the topic of her first two years of intensive research: resilience.

Amelia has spoken to groups—small and large—of students, community members, and mental health professionals, and is passionate about sharing how resilience is more than just “bouncing back” and why those closest to us are often least supportive of our growth. She also feels honored to share her story of recovery with others who have come to believe, as she once did, that recovery is out of reach, and has taken this message of hope to patients of all ages at residential and outpatient eating disorders programs, family and loved ones of those with eating disorders, as well as students, health professionals, and community members.

More on Tengah:

Tengah Nguyen is a Houston based entrepreneurial creative production artist. Her company Brilliart Films strives to promote film, photography, video production, visual media projects, creative marketing video campaigns and much more. She is actively involved in the AAPI community and is Co-Director of OCA-GH's Houston AAPI Film Festival to promote AAPI film and arts in Houston. She believes fueling a passion in youth for leadership and volunteerism is the key to our successful future. In her free time she rock climbs, goes bowling and loves to practice yoga.
