About Our Speaker

One of Cleveland’s preeminent preachers, Mark Giuliano is a regarded speaker, writer and civic leader. With studies in urban planning, and graduate degrees in theology (McGill) and preaching (Vanderbilt), Mark is well suited for his position as the 12th Senior Pastor the Old Stone Church and its mission to “Love Christ and Serve City.”

Since arriving in Cleveland in 2008, Mark has been actively engaged in and writing about the life and work of the city. He’s been a board member of the Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation, and Downtown Cleveland Improvement Corporation, among others. In 2010, Mark became the founding president of the Downtown Cleveland Residents Association. In 2013, Mayor Jackson presented Mark with an award for his “Human Kindness and Dedicated Support to Residents and Businesses in Downtown Cleveland.” In 2016, Rebecca Barnes wrote in Presbyterians Today magazine: “Rarely are Presbyterians en masse contributing to conversations at city meetings, engaging urban planners, and thinking comprehensively about what it means for the “river of life” to flow through the city. The Old Stone Church, First Presbyterian, located in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio, is a notable exception.”

In 2008, Dr. Giuliano conceived of an idea to lift hope while providing a forum to explore issues of urban development, sustainability, and eco-justice. In 2009, with the help of many church members, Giuliano launched the first Hope for the City symposium.

Mark and his wife, Beth, live downtown and enjoy contributing to the vitality of the city.

While admission is free, we encourage you to make a $20 donation to support the Hope for the City program and help us spread our mission throughout the city of Cleveland. If you'd like to donate, click here to visit our website!
