In June 2018, the Department of Veterans Affairs Suicide Report indicated that more than 75,000 Americans with military backgrounds became suicides from 2005-2015. At 20.6 deaths a day, that’s nearly 20,000 more than were killed during the 16 years of war in Vietnam.

With a Schedule 1 classification imposed by the antiquated 1970 Controlled Substance Act, government-supported research on the medical benefits of marijuana for the treatment of pain, PTSD, TBI, anxiety, insomnia and other unseen injuries is prohibited.

Seeking proven relief with marijuana despite the Schedule 1 classification, veterans take a risky gamble that could lead to anything from discipline to a “less than honorable” discharge, resulting in loss of access to the GI Bill as well as VA benefits.

Sadly, many chose to take their own life.

After decades of desperate and unanswered calls, veterans are rallying together to ask:

How many lost lives are too many?
