Description

Gwyneth Lewis was National Poet of Wales 2005-06, the first to be awarded the laureateship. Her words are on the front of the Wales Millennium Centre in six-foot-high words. She is an award-winning poet in both Welsh and English. In 2010 she was given a Cholmondeley Award by the Society of Authors. Her latest book, Sparrow Tree (Bloodaxe) won the Roland Mathias Poetry Award.

Gwyneth’s two memoirs are Sunbathing in the Rain: A Cheerful Book about Depression (Harper Perennial, 2002) and Two in a Boat: A Marital Rite of Passage (Fourth Estate, 2005). Gwyneth lives in Cardiff and she was the 2016 Robert Frost Professor of Literature at the Bread Loaf School of English in Middlebury, Vermont.
