Description

Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) is an organization that connects, leads, and empowers women in science. Since the first chapter was established in 1921, GWIS has grown to reach women across the United States and the globe. The GWIS Black Hills chapter is honored to host the 2019 GWIS National Conference “Communicating Science to Connect, Lead, and Empower” in Rapid City, SD in the Surbeck Center Ballroom at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on June 22 from 11 am - 8 pm. Featured Speakers include Dr. Scyller Borglum (Engineer and South Dakota House of Representatives, District 32), Dr. Laura Chandler (Director of the Center for Diversity and Community at the University of South Dakota), Cabot-Ann Christofferson ( Liaison of the MAJORANA Demonstrator at Sanford Underground Research Facility in Lead), Dr. Lisa Kunza (Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biological Sciences at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology), and Tatewin Means (Executive Director at the Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation).
