About Gwen: This Chicago born comedian hit the comedy scene with an explosive energy that quickly won the hearts of her audiences and led to performances at world famous comedy clubs such as The Laugh Factory, Zanies, and The Improv.

Her honest and relatable comedic approach, meshed with her quirky physical humor, has crowds from all ages and ethnic backgrounds laughing at life, together.

Winner of the NY Latino Film Fest Stand Up competition in 2021, she is now the first Latina from Chicago to make her comedy special debut on HBO Max. Gwen La Roka is most definitely one to look out for.

About Janice: Janice V. Rodriguez, (first name rhymes with Denise – you can ask her mom), is a Chicago based entrepreneur and comedian. When she's not agonizing over an unnecessary spreadsheet or micromanaging others, she performs her unique brand of stand up across Chicagoland and the country. She’s also a founder and producer of Las Locas Comedy, a comedy showcase celebrating its 6 year anniversary in 2023. Las Locas Comedy features Latina/Latinx comedic talent and honorary locas of any background at their Laugh Factory Chicago residency called Chingona Comedy Hour, as well self-produced showcases at venues and theaters across Chicagoland.

Janice regularly performs at Chicago area comedy showcases and has hosted and/or featured at Chicagoland comedy clubs Zanies, Improv, Laugh Factory, Comedy Vault, CG’s Comedy Club, and Market Lounge (Valparaiso, IN). She’s also performed at clubs across the USA including The Drop (South Bend), Comedy Bar (Dubuque), The Comic Strip (El Paso), Laugh Out Loud San Antonio, Stand Up and Rock (Las Vegas), and Jackie Knights (St. Augustine, FL). She has also been invited to perform at several comedy festivals such as Chicago Women's Funny Festival, SheDot (Toronto), Lady Laughs (Madison), and LaughFest (Grand Rapids). In August 2022, she co-founded and produced the first Latina Comedy Festival and is currently planning for the next festival in 2023.

Janice uses her experience of being the whitest Latina she knows, childfree, and an average marriage partner at best to tell her side of the story. Through her comedy, Janice aims to bring a fresh perspective to topics related to her culture, Indiana upbringing, and her professional and personal lives. She's also very tired.

The Drop Comedy Club is located on Level B inside of The Aloft Hotel. Free Parking available in the parking garage on levels 4 or 5. (Push the button at the gate to let hotel staff know you are attending the show.)

Food & Beverages available at WXYZ Bar on Level 1. All food and beverages can be brought down to the show. WXYZ offers a full food menu and full-liquor bar including a number of options such as buckets of beer, pre-mixed drinks in a can, or bottles of wine to reduce the need to make multiple trips to the bar during the show. Guests may also purchase more than one drink per trip to the bar. *There is not currently bar service inside of the show room, but it continues to be a feature we hope to be able to add in the future.
