Event Details

The GVPTA announces its 20th annual Making a Scene theatre conference, co-hosted with SFU Woodward's.

The 2019 conference takes place over the course of three days in Vancouver: Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at SFU Woodward's Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, with special standalone workshops and activities as an extension of the conference on Wednesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 30 at The Post at 750.

The conference kicks off on May 28 with a keynote by director, playwright, and actor Kim Senklip Harvey from the Syilx, Tshilqot'in, Ktunaxa and Dakelh Nations. Daytime conference programming features a diverse range of breakout sessions, workshops, and presentations throughout the day, and into the evening, that bring up questions, conversations, and learning relevant for the theatre community.

On May 29 and 30 we present optional add-on workshops, including a 6-hour Intimacy Direction Workshop with Siobhan Richardson. More workshops to be announced, so watch our website and newsletter for the latest updates. Select workshops will be offered free to conference delegates; others available at a discounted rate. Space is limited and separate workshop application and/or registration is required.
