Description

Join the National Academy of Medicine on February 27, 2019 at 4:30pm for the Gustav O. Lienhard Award Lecture. The lecture will honor the 2018 recipient of the Lienhard Award, Dr. Stuart Altman, Sol. C. Professor of National Health Policy from Brandeis University, who received the award in recognition of his pioneering role in national health policy and health services research.

Dr. Altman's lecture, on the topic of "Systemic and Health Consequences of the Payment Gap Between Medicare and Private Insurance", will be followed by audience Q&A and a reception.

This lecture is free and open to the public, but will not be webcast. If you are interested in the lecture, please plan to attend in person. The lecture will be held at the historic National Academy of Sciences Building at 2101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The historic NAS Building has extremely limited parking, which may not be available to you when you arrive for the lecture. We advise that you travel to the lecture via taxi or car share, or via the Metro. The closest Metro station to the NAS Building is Foggy Bottom/GWU, which is serviced by the Blue/Orange/Silver lines. Please note that after exiting the Metro, the NAS Building is an approximate 10-minute walk.

What should I plan to bring to the event?

If you RSVP, you will be placed on a guest list, but the guards at the building will still ask you for a photo ID, so please have one on hand when you arrive.

Will the lecture be webcast or recorded for viewing later?

The lecture will not be webcast or recorded. If you are interested in attending, please plan to attend in person.

Is the reception after the lecture open to the public?

Yes, the reception is open to all lecture attendees. Refreshments will be served.
