Event description

Description

Discover the different ways that Londoners have been drinking from 1760 to today. This 90-minute guided walk is led by an official Camden Tour Guide. You will see original sites of London breweries and beershops, learn how local taverns turn into late Victorian pub palaces, and consider what is happening with pubs today.

This walk will take us around Fitzrovia to view pubs both thriving and already gone. We will discuss the evolution of the bar, talk about what happens in the upstairs rooms, discover when women start to drink in public, and discuss famous pubs and their more famous clientele.

Our first stop will be looking at the Flying Horse Pub, 6 Oxford St, London W1D 1AN. You may want to visit or have a drink there before we head out on the walk. Our final stop will be the Fitzroy Tavern, 16 Charlotte St, Fitzrovia, London W1T 2LY.

Please meet the group outside Tottenham Court Road Underground station across the street from the Flying Horse.
