About this event

Tours are available Friday and Saturday, advance booking is appreciated as tours are small and can fill up. At 12:30 is a one-hour tour of the Danbury Museum’s four historic buildings, and at 2:30 pm is a one-hour of the Charles Ives Birthplace. The Ives tour begins AT the Ives home located at 5 Mountainville Avenue and requires SEPARATE TICKETS.

The Danbury Museum 43 Main Street campus is home to four historic buildings: the John & Mary Rider House (1785), the John Dodd Hat Shop (1790), the Little Red Schoolhouse, and the Marian Anderson Studio. For more details, visit our website!

The tours are roughly 1 hour long and are available Wednesday through Saturday at 12:30 pm.

Please note, if your group is 10 or more people, we ask that you call the museum at 203-743-5200 to schedule your tour separately. Thank you!

It is our practice to monitor and manage appointment no-shows and late cancellations. The Danbury Museum’s goal is to provide timely and helpful service to all visitors. If it is necessary to cancel your tour, guests are required to call 24 hours in advance or cancel their appointment via Eventbrite. Notification allows our staff to better utilize tour appointments for other visitors.

Where is the Danbury Museum?

We are located at 43 Main Street in Danbury, Connecticut. Tours of our Main Street Historic Buildings all begin in Huntington Hall, the modern brick and glass building located half-way down the driveway.

Can I park nearby?

There is ample parking on our campus and there are handicapped accessible spaces as well. As you drive down our driveway you will see the available parking.

Is the Danbury Museum handicap accessible?

Huntington Hall, the museum's modern exhibit and office space, is wheelchair accessible and has handicap accessible restrooms as well. The John & Mary Rider House is wheelchair accessible on the main floor, and the Marian Anderson Studio is wheelchair accessible as well.
