Event description

Our Mood Walks are lead by a certified Forest Therapy Guide from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs and offer a highly unique, enjoyable, effective way to reconnect with the natural world.

Mood Walks combine leisurely 1-3hr walks on gentle paths under forest canopy, through a meadow field, and near a body of water with guided activities and meditations to help you open your senses, hone your intuition, and experience the forest as you never have before. We draw upon mindfulness meditation practices, and the techniques of deep nature connection mentoring. We also use the Way of Council for group discussions at several points along the walk, which helps participants learn from and teach other as we discuss what we are experiencing together. The walk ends with a tea ceremony in which all participants are invited to taste a hot or cold infusion of plants from the walk.

Please complete a participation agreement and turn in to your guide at the beginning of the walk.

What should I expect?

The therapy walks are not strenuous at all. We cover a maximum of about 3/4 miles, often less, over a period of 2-3 hours, on easy trail. An opportunity to participate in a series of guided invitations to help awaken the senses and reconnect with Nature. Pets are not welcome on therapy walks at this time.

Is it still on if it is raining?

The walk will still be on if it's raining, unless there's a weather advising that it's unsafe to be on the roads. If it is raining it's important to have a waterproof and extra layers including pants and many people bring umbrellas also. Rain often enhances sensory experience and makes for some of our most memorable walks.

What if it's hot out?

We will try to stay mostly in the shade but will be in the sun part of the time. Please bring water to stay hydrated. Other things to consider are a sunhat, sunblock and bug spray.

What about cooler weather?

Please wear comfortable clothing and dress in layers to stay warm. Bring water or a thermos with a hot drink. We suggest you bring one more warm layer than you think you will need. We may at times we may be moving less so temperatures may feel cooler than you expect. Bring anything else you may want to be warm and comfortable outdoors.

If you have any questions or need to contact me before the hike, please call or text us at 413-591-9355. Please let me know if you are running late.
