Event description

Description

Join Heather Victoria Held and Ink.Academy for a tasteful and elegant weekend at the Berkeley City Club!

We spend years refining our script lettering to make it as graceful and delicate as possible. Let's do the same for the embellishments that so gracefully and delicatly accompany our script to make it complete work of art. Using various elements and principles of design, ornamental curves and flourishes, we will transform our existing script lettering into elaborately embellished artwork. The techniques we explore will enrich your flourishing skills and give you the confidence to create finished artwork that is suitable for framing. We will study corners, swags, line endings, expanded curves and flourished letterforms to augment our layouts. This workshop will take place in a beautiful room at a National Historic Building, The Berkeley City Club.

THE DELICATE PAGE workshop assumes a knowledge of a pointed pen script such as Spencerian, English Roundhand or Italian Hand and is taught at the intermediate to advanced level.

Saturday and Sunday classes start at 10.00am, finish at 6pm, with a one hour lunch break.

Heather Victoria Held

Heather Victoria Held has been teaching guild workshops and private classes since 2010. An introvert herself, she recognizes the nervousness that many students encounter while attending a workshop or class. Her goal with each student is to calm those inward fears while awkening the artist within. Embedded in her teaching style is the belief that skills can be acquired through intelligent and thoughtful practice. Her manner of teaching and lesson delivery is gentle and encouraging. Through nurturing advice and keen observation, she teaches the student how to think originally and cultivate the necessary skills to advance their lettering and design work.

Refunds and Cancellations

We understand that life is unpredictable and that your schedule may unexpectedly change. As smoothly as we may make everything unfold during the workshops, organizing a workshop involves a great investment of both time and financial resources. Due to those commitments we’ve made to our students to keep these workshops flowing into the future, we have put this policy in place. Should you wish to cancel, here are the guidelines for refunds.

  • 45+ days PRIOR to event start date: 100% refund, less $50 admin fee
  • 30 to 45 days PRIOR to event start date—ticket cost will be fully refunded, less a 50% cancellation fee
  • less than 30 days before the event—100% cancellation fee, no refunds offered
