Event description
A new pilot program to support artists began this last year. The CEO of the YBCA joins us to discuss the impacts of the program and more.

About this event

Surviving in the Bay Area is tough for anyone.

Artists are fleeing San Francisco for more affordable areas to do their work. For a city that revels in it's artistic culture, are we doing enough to keep artists here?

During the pandemic, a pilot program to provide more than a 100 artists with a $1,000 a month was introduced.

Is this program successful?

Should we expand it?

Are we seeing an increased quality of life for artists in the Bay Area?

What is the future of art in a city too expensive for artists?

We are joined by the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts CEO Deborah Cullinan to catch up on the program and discuss supporting artists during the pandemic. We will also be joined by one of the artists who has been participating in the pilot TBD.

The structure of this event will be about 45 minutes of discussion with CEO Cullinan followed by small break out groups where YOU can meet some new folks and discuss what you just heard. We hope to help solicit a more collaborative discussion and hear the diverse stories in our city.

Manny's never turns away anyone for lack of funds. To receive a complementary ticket just email the word "grapefruit" and the title of this event to tomas@welcometomannys.com.

This event will be in person at Manny's but there will also be a Zoom link ticket for those who'd like to tune in digitally from the comfort of their home.
