About Nixie Unterwelt

Nixie Unterwelt is a one-womxn electronica powerhouse. Equipped with a computer running Ableton Live, a midi keyboard, a headset mic, and sometimes a six string bass, Nixie delivers compelling, intricate beats, genre-shattering songs, and punk-operatic vocals. Her influences include art punk, new wave, riot grrrl, industrial, stoner metal, 80s synth pop, world music, and Bollywood. She considers a gallery show an opportunity for grand spectacle and plans to accentuate her usual stage histrionics with costume, dance, and video projections. As many of her songs deal with the power of the elements and bring in musical influences from her Latinx heritage, Nixie wishes to devote this performance to the healing of Puerto Rico, one of her ancestral homes.

About PRIMA

All proceeds from her 1/27 show at The Green Kill will go to PRIMA, Puerto Rico Independent Musicians and Artists, to support ongoing creative and cultural vibrancy in the wake of Hurricane Maria, as the island continues to wait for restored electricity and infrastructure. As Puerto Rican artists grapple with stolen power on many levels, it is urgent that they continue to speak through their art and that their voices are heard.

PRIMA was organized by Buscabulla‘s Raquel Berrios and Luis Alfredo Del Valle, along with Latina folk and rock stalwart Ani Cordero. Please visit https://www.primafund.org to find out more.
