Event description

Description

On May 11, 2018, the Georgia State University's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will host a free, interdisciplinary Conference on Scholarly Teaching.

GSU's Conference on Scholarly Teaching focuses on pedagogical techniques, hybrid teaching, technological teaching practices, collaborative teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Our theme for this year's conference is Global Conversations in Higher Education

We will have 4 tracks within that theme. Please submit a proposal related to one of these tracks.
  • Information literacy (real news, fake news, cultural bias and teaching students to conduct legitimate research)
  • Teaching with an eye toward social justice
  • Calibrating toward Careers, highlighting the skill sets of liberal arts education to meet traditional career expectations (mentorships, translating learning experiences, and addressing the needs of the community)
  • Teaching and Learning to address the needs of the whole student (program and resource design, maker spaces, study abroad, local connections in the classroom, SoTL research, and assessment)

Faculty, Graduate Teaching Assistants, Lab Assistants, and Program Administrators from across the University System of Georgia are invited to participate.

We are currently accepting proposals for individual presentations, panel presentations, and poster presentations.

If you are interested in presenting at Georgia State University's Conference on Scholarly Teaching, please submit your proposal on our submission page. The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2018.

A free catered breakfast and lunch will be provided. We will be running concurrent sessions throughout the day. This conference is free for you, but it is CETL’s largest expense of the year. If you register, we will order food for you, please DO NOT register unless you plan to attend. If you register and you cannot attend, please let us know. Registrants who do not attend this year will not be allowed to attend next year.
Registration is open until we have 200 registrants or until May 1, 2018.
