Event description

Description

GSN in a collaborative effort with other local non-profit organizations will be doing a food drive to assist Partners for Kids and Families with the goal to feed 300 families in Burlington County for Thanksgiving. On Saturday, November 17, 2018, GSN will be hosting our first annual Cranksgiving Food Drive. We will be collecting, assembling, and distributing all of the items that are donated. GSN has pledged 30 baskets in an effort to help our community, with your support and participation we can meet and exceed this goal.

What is Cranksgiving?

Cranksgiving is a national event that combines bike riding and giving back. It's a mix of a scavenger hunt, food drive, and bike ride. We'll give you a list of food items and grocery stores, and then you'll have a set amount of time to ride to the stores to collect as many of the food items as you can. All of the food purchased goes to Partners for Kids and Families.

Saturday, November 17, 2018 Cranksgiving Day Schedule:

Start/End Location: Kennedy Center, 429 JFK Way, Willingboro, NJ 08046

9:45 am – Pre-Ride Instructions and Grocery List

10:00 am – Bike Ride and Scavenger Hunt

Noon – Assembly of Care Baskets

3:00 pm – Delivery of Baskets to Partners for Kids & Families

How much does it cost to participate?

By design, Cranksgiving is and always will be a free event. We recommend that each person bring $30 to help purchase food items on the list. However, how much you spend is entirely up to you!

What should I bring?

  • Working bike
  • All riders are required to wear a helmet
  • (Recommended) $30 for purchasing food to donate
  • Water bottle
  • Smartphone to take photos
  • (Optional) Costumes
  • Smile and be ready to have some fun!

How does the food get back to the start location?

We will have volunteers who will be watching the bikes as you shop. Afterwards, the groceries will be loaded into the vehicles and brought back to the Kennedy Center in which the care baskets will be assembled.

What happens if it rains or snows?

If there is inclement weather, we will begin the scavenger hunt at the grocery stores and everyone will transport the items in their own vehicles back to the Kennedy Center.

How many miles is the ride?

All the local grocery stores can be reached within a 10-mile round trip bike ride from the Kennedy Center.

You can participate in the following ways:

Bike Riders: We’ll give you a list of food items and grocery stores. You’ll have a set amount of time to ride to as many of the stores to collect as many of the food items as you can.

A second set of volunteers will be assembling the items into baskets at the Kennedy Center to distribute to Partners of Kids and Families.
