9:15AM: Lean-In Power & Influence
This session takes a look at the book, Lean In written by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO. In the book, Sandberg encourages women to “sit at the table”, seek challenges, take risks, and pursue their goals with gusto. The session specifically looks at power and influence in the workplace. We will discuss “showing up authoritatively” and “showing up approachably” at work. Through interactive exercises, we’ll practice these skills and prepare how to apply them to future situations. 10:30AM: Ethics at Work
We all face ethical decisions on a daily basis. Often times they are simple decisions that require little thought. From time to time however, we encounter a situation where we must choose between multiple courses of action that, while right, could have a detrimental outcome for someone or something. Ethics at Work will introduce participants to a structure for resolving complex “right-versus-right” ethical dilemmas. Through interactive exercises, participants will apply this structure to scenarios relevant to their day-to-day work at Full Sail.
11:45AM: Student Succes Service Round Table
If you’ve attended the Faculty Foundations CE for Student Success Services, but want to know more, please join all four of the members of the Student Success team at an exchange of information and ideas in the roundtable format. In this casual and largely unstructured forum, the Student Success Team invites you to pick our brains as we go “beyond the basics,” and answer questions, provide information, and address specific areas of concern regarding disability support. We look forward to seeing you there!
2:15PM: Did You Read Instruction? Tips For Online Instructor
*Survey to be conducted one week before the session with all registered attendees. Based on the survey results*, this session will review the top ten frustrations that online instructors encounter when interacting with students. Through this review, there will be some laughter and venting but ultimately a solution. Instructors will leave the session with various tips/techniques to engage with online students. Topics to be discussed include: Setting boundaries Promoting learning Empowering students Ultimately the goal as an educator is to guide the students to figure it out on their own in order to reach the learning objectives. How we respond when we are frustrated with the process is going to set the tone for the course. These tips will navigate future interactions down a successful path.
2:15PM: Creative Conflict Resolution
Conflict exists in every organization at every level. Since this is such a crucial component of maintaining a productive work environment, learning about the different conflict management styles is critical. The trick is being able to both understand your own personal response in these situations and having the insight to gauge other’s responses as well. This session will uncover the different conflict management styles to help foster constructive resolutions.
3:30PM: Dare to be a Purpose-Driven Leader
If necessity is the mother of invention, what keeps us from inventing/creating within a community of Abundance? Our perception has everything to do with our progression. The question is “Do I have the courage to think & create beyond the distractions that threaten the manifestation of my purpose?” To be the preeminent Entertainment and Media University in the World, we must elevate the thoughts and behaviors that challenge us the most. To live purpose-driven, we must remove selfish gain and commit to the vision of the heart.
