Event description

Community engagement was already moving to more virtual platforms before the Covid-19 pandemic, but now with social distancing, virtual community engagement is accelerating. What are the challenges, opportunities, and emerging approaches? How can virtual community engagement support equitable participation and retain participants as it competes with other virtual activities?

Members of the D4CR (Design for Community Regeneration) Team from the Minnesota Design Center at the University of Minnesota will share their experience and plans as they prepare to collaborate with the cities of Warren, Hallock, and Crookston on on a “geodesign” process that will combine GIS applications, Zoom, and other platforms as part of community negotiation and engagement strategies toward imagining regenerative futures for each city and the region.
