1. Fresh Code
We all start coding at the same time. This is done to keep things fair. Please don’t come in and build on top of previous projects if you want to win. It’s cool to work on designs beforehand, mockups and growth strategies, but try to keep things within just limits.
2. Code Review
Winning teams will be subject to a code-review at some point following the event or immediately before winning.
3. Ownership and IP
Teams have full ownership of everything they build at our events and are free to do with it as they wish.
4. Team Size
Teams of up to 5 are allowed.
5. Maven Ventures Prize
Teams will have 30 days to work on Growth and optimization. Maven Ventures focuses on seed investment in the consumer growth category so while you're free to focus on enterprise or other categories these may be exempt from the grand prize
6. DEMO your Hack
You must demo your product in order to present. No slide-decks or power-points will be allowed. Don’t be scared if you didn’t finish… it’s okay long as you tried your best.
7. Utilize Your Mentors
This should be fun. You have access to some of the best growth hacker minds in Silicon Valley. Make full use of them and leverage the most effective engagement tactics, viral channels and other tools they recommend.
8. Purchasing Users
Winning teams are subject to review and those suspected of purchasing their users may be disqualified. Small amounts of ads to test messaging and landing pages are allowed but winning products should grow based on organic and viral traffic.
