Cybersecurity: The Best Defense is a Good Offense

Course Objectives:

1) Identify steps to protecting your tech devices: learn to implement system access controls with unique user IDs and permissions, encryption on the devices, and physical access controls around the tech devices.

2) Apply protective measures for your company against scams using common cyber risk controls: implement security awareness training and “Acceptable Use Policies” and have the policy signed by company employees annually.

3) Identify, organize and execute routine tests on your network and use necessary procedures: periodically conduct email phishing campaigns to identify areas of weakness then repeat training for those areas, conduct external and internal penetration tests on the network to identify areas of weakness, and semi-annual system access reviews to verify that only active employees have access to the network and they have appropriate permissions.

Program Description:

Cyber attacks and data breaches make monitoring more important than ever in protecting your digital files, computers, servers, and mobile devices. In our seminar, we will discuss the recent significant data breaches, statistics of data breaches and typical costs incurred, common cyber risk control activities that can minimize cybersecurity attacks in the area of logical security, change management, mobile devices, wireless backups, monitoring of third-party providers and cloud services, phishing email campaigns and performing routine external / internal penetration tests on your network.

In addition, we will discuss cybersecurity insurance, parts of a cyber risk policy, and inform you on what to look for in terms of complete cyber security insurance policy coverage.

2 CPE Credits will also be provided in the field of Information Technology
